Karen Montgomery's Brown Bag Mystery 2024 - Piece of Cake - is finally here! Poppy's has a wide selection of bags to choose from, so read below for more information on how you can join this fun and educational program.
What is Brown Bag Mystery 2024?
Brown Bag Mystery is an annual program run exclusively with Sewposium shops. It's a double mystery with both a mystery pattern and mystery fabric! To participate, simply purchase a bag online or in-store by picking your favorite focal fabric option. The coordinating fabrics are a mystery, but each bag has been carefully curated by Michelle and the team at Poppy's based on the finished pattern.
Once you have your bag(s), you can join Karen Montgomery's private Facebook group and start preparing for the program by following the cutting instructions in your bag. Then, starting in March, assembly clues will be released every 2 weeks. Poppy's will mail clues out to all of our bag purchasers (unless you tell us otherwise) on the following dates:
- March 16th
- March 30th
- April 13th
- April 27th
- May 11th
The beauty of this program is that the final pattern will be revealed to you gradually over the course of 8 weeks. Along the way, you'll learn invaluable tips and tricks from Karen Montgomery via her private Facebook group and the wonderful community of participating sewists!

How to customize your bag
To streamline your creative adventure, Poppy's is offering a finishing kit that includes both border and binding fabric for your quilt. You can also round out your project with a coordinating backing option. Both of these additions are entirely optional and sold separately. With the purchase of a finishing kit or backing option, the team at Poppy's will curate your add-ons to coordinate perfectly with your chosen bag.
