The Tamarack Jacket is a warm and stylish coat perfect for the cooler weather approaching! With roomy welt pockets, you can keep your belongings safe and your hands warm. During this 2 part class, our expert instructor, Cindy, will walk you through construction of the Tamarack Jacket in the size of your choice. She'll also show you how to make the jacket reversible, so you can enjoy it at different times of the year and style it to your liking!
🧵 Required Pattern: Please be aware that the Tamarack Jacket pattern is required for the class (purchase it in-store or online here). A corresponding pattern for a hood, collar, and patch pockets can also be purchased from Grainline Studio - although these additions are not required for class.
🧵 Pre-Class Homework: It is a requirement to have your fabric for the Tamarack Jacket quilted before class. You can do this yourself or take advantage of Poppy's quilting discount for class members! The quilting fee includes a pattern of your choice (from the .025-.03 cent range) and a thread charge. Fabric and batting are sold separately, but can be purchased from Poppy's or provided separately. For more information on the quilting fee and deadlines, please contact us.
🧵 Tips For Fabric Purchase: When picking fabric for your jacket, please keep in mind how important it is to have the right yardage for quilting. You'll need to supply the following for class:
- 3 yards of outer fabric
- 3 yards of lining fabric (keeping in mind the jacket can be reversible)
- 3/4 yard of outside binding
- 3/4 yard of inside binding
Please do not use directional fabric for this project, or the above yardage amounts may not be sufficient.
